Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama has come out to support President Uhuru’s idea of uniting all Kenyans through the political parties merger.
Speaking during an interview with Salim Swalleh of Citizen Television Sunday the 21 of August, he said that the president’s move shows that he has the interest of the people in mind and aims at eradicating ethnic politics which has characterised the nation for a long time now.
This comes several weeks after the president and the leaders of the parties making up the Jubilee coalition reached an agreement to break down their smaller parties to create a bigger Jubilee Party with the president calling upon the opposition parties too to follow the lead.
The move has since brought the president under sharp criticism from the opposition leaders who viewed the move as a way of killing democracy and taking the nation back to the single party era.
Concerning his county, the senator has said that he will be re-vying for his current post in the next polls saying that he wants to serve his people through the same post.
When asked what he thought about his governor Alfred Mutua, he termed him as a person who should not be entrusted with leadership but rather be subjected to work under supervision.
