NASA has asked outgoing Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama to lead the coalition's campaigns in Nairobi and ensuring that the Kamba community supports Raila Odinga and his running mate Kalonzo Musyoka.
Speaking on Sunday, Muthama dismissed claims he has ditched longtime ally Kalonzo Musyoka, saying he relocated to the city to ensure that the NASA duo get full support of the Kamba vote.
Muthama said President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto’s overtures towards the community are disdainful.
“In 1983, Mulu Mutisya told me to support Kalonzo when I didn’t even know who he was. He won. We remained in Kanu until we moved to LDP, later to ODM-K (now-Wiper) and NASA. How foolish could I be to abandon him today?” Muthama said.
“If my first leg stepped out of Wiper, Kalonzo’s would be the second and if his [Kalonzo’s] one leg stepped out of Wiper, Muthama’s would be second.”
