Machakos Senator Jonstone Muthama has threatened to take legal action against several MPS who allegedly manhandled him on Thursday, during the chaotic scenes witnessed at Parliament when the security amendment law was being passed.
Addressing journalists on Sunday, Muthama said that his lawyers will file a suit against the MPs, whom he accused of man-handling him.
The senator said that he has evidence on those who he claims manhandled and assaulted him during the debate.
“I will be moving to court on Monday to file a case against the MPs who assaulted me at the Parliament on Thursday, I have evidence against them,” said Muthama.
Muthama alleged that the fracases at Parliament were well planned by Jubilee MPs, saying that action must be taken against those involved.
Meanwhile, the senator said that Cord is working on avenues to ensure the signed security laws are not implemented, adding that the coalition will be moving to court on Monday to stop implementation of the laws.
“Our lawyers are ready to file the petition against the security laws that were passed by Parliament last week,” he said.
The senator termed the laws as ‘draconian’, and meant to curtail the freedom of Kenyans and the media, adding that the opposition will not fold hands and sit back as the government moves to deny Kenyans their rights.
He said that while insecurity affects every Kenyan, the government should not impose draconian laws to the people in the name of fighting terrorists.
