Speaking at Athi-River on Sunday, the senator said that it is almost two years since Jubilee took over power, yet there is nothing to show off in terms of provision of services.

The senator observed that many Kenyans; including those from Machakos, have been subjected to harsh living conditions, further noting that the high cost of living has denied Kenyans access to basic services.

“We want to ask the Jubilee government to fulfill the promises they made to Kenyans, it is now two years down the line and there is nothing much to show off,” said Muthama.

The Machakos senator cited unemployment and high poverty levels, which he said the government has failed to address.

He further observed that many young people are languishing in unemployment, despite the government promising a million jobs yearly.

On the same note, Muthama urged Machakos to demand the best from the county governemtn, saying they have experienced enough frustrations already.

The senator alleged that the Machakos county government has failed to provide key services to the residents, further accusing it of undermining workers and failing to pay them, a situation he said contravenes labour regulations.

The senator vowed to pile pressure on the county government until residents get the services they deserve.
