Machakos Woman Representative hopeful  Agnes Kavindu has exuded confidence of clinching the seat in the August 8 general election.

Kavindu, who is contesting on Jubilee Party (JP) ticket says that she has the numbers to send incumbent Dr Susan Musyoka home on August 8.

Addressing supporters at Machakos Town on Monday, Kavindu said that she is the best-suited candidate for the Woman Rep seat.

Kavindu vowed to give Dr Musyoka and other rivals a run for their money in the Woman Rep race.

Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama’s ex-wife hit out at Dr Musyoka saying that she has not represented the interests of women, youth and other marginalized groups in the county.

She claimed that Dr Musyoka has not empowered marginalized groups despite controlling the Social Affirmative Action Fund.

“I am the best candidate for this seat and rivals should brace up for a titanic battle on August 8,” she said as quoted by the Standard. Kavindu pledged to empower marginalized groups through beneficial projects if elected.

She said that her agenda will be to give women a voice to speak on economic, social and political issues.

The Jubilee aspirant at the same time warned locals against voting for leaders who don't have development agenda.

She said that the county needs aggressive and visionary leaders to achieve development.

Muthama’s ex-wife claimed that Machakos has lagged behind on development because leaders who are elected to office lack agenda for the people.

The Woman Rep aspirant urged locals to maintain peace as they prepare for the August 8 polls.

Kavindu is eyeing to unseat Dr Musyoka who will be defending the seat as an independent candidate after losing the Wiper party ticket in the nomination.

Others in the Woman rep race are Francisca Mutinda vying on Maendeleo Chap Chap  (MCC) Party, Jane Ndeti vying on Chama Cha Uzalendo (CCU), Joyce Kamene and Rita Ndunge contesting as an independent candidate.
