Immediate former Machakos senator Johnstone Muthama’s fierce criticism targeting President Uhuru Kenyatta at Kitengela could be behind his woes.
Along with Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, Muthama was arrested by police and taken to Pangani police stations.
Even though opposition leader Raila Odinga claims Inspector General Joseph Boinnet is yet to state Muthama’s charges, a piece of his excerpts of Kitengela speech is being circulated online.
“The problem with Kenya is having a drunkard and a thief as leaders. He was born in richness and even had his father grabbing huge tracks of land,” says the speech, in a lose translation to English.
He further said;”The guy is intellectually bankrupt and to ascertain that, see how he wakes up in the morning and takes alcohol and the other ‘thing’.”
Although he is yet to know his charges, this is the second time to tough talking former legislator is being held on alleged hate speech.
As a show of solidarity with Muthama, Odinga accused police of intimidating opposition leaders without concrete evidence.
