Nasa presidential campaigns deputy head Johnstone Muthama has promised to deliver the Nairobi vote to the alliance.
The Machakos Senator is upbeat the alliance stands a good chance of garnering majority votes in the capital, saying they will bag 14 out of the city’s 17 parliamentary seats.
“For me, it is more useful in terms of votes when helping with ground work in Nairobi than accompanying our presidential candidate across the country,” Muthama said.
Muthama has in the last few days appeared back in the campaign scene, after a cold relationship with his Wiper Party appeared to be wreaking the Nasa ship.
He hosted a rally at Nairobi City stadium last weekend, where he assured the Kamba community that their political interests are best served within Nasa.
“I have been charged with overseeing the Nairobi campaigns and I want to assure voters that being an enemy of the Jubilee administration, I will make sure no vote is lost come August 8,” said Mr Muthama.
He further sought to assure his supporters and those of Kalonzo Musyoka that the two are good friends and will work together.
“There is no way I can betray Mr Musyoka. We are inseparable and the day he leaves Nasa we will leave together,” he said adding.
Muthama triggered speculation that he had ditched the opposition when he took a break from Nasa political campaigns and went on an extended trip abroad soon after announcing he won’t defend his seat.
