Youth in Muthetheni, Machakos County have complained of bias in the Ward Development Funds committee elections.
Speaking to this writer on Wednesday, Susan Mutinda, a youth from Miu Sub-Location in Muthetheni Ward, said there was no public participation during the elections.
“We were not informed about the elections as no announcements were made in our locations. I received the information when I was in Machakos Town only to find out very few people from my sub-location knew about the elections,” said Mutinda.
The youth said it was unacceptable for some sub-locations to be left out of the voting exercise stating they had a right to elect their representatives.
However, Muthetheni Member of County Assembly Leonard Katela, said every area receives communication through different ways.
"I am not the person who announces the events. However, residents should find a way of getting information like visiting their ward offices,” said Katela.
Katela further stated that he had been away for the past few days but had been informed the exercise had been carried out in the right way.
The youth said they would go to court to contest the results.
