The body was identified as that of Masiembe Tanini, a herder from Suswa area in Narok and was discovered by passersby at around 8.00am on Thursday.

Confirming the incident Neissuit Chief Joseph Rotich said that the deceased came to the area in November last year in the company of other herders in search of pasture.

“He is among some Maasai pastoralists who have migrated to this area in search of pasture from Narok, Kajiado,” Rotich said.

The mysterious killing comes a day after residents of Gema Trading centre in Gilgil constituency were shocked to discover a body of a 40 year-old man disfigured with eyes gorged out, lips ear and noses cut off with the face skinned.

The residents decried that his death resembles ritual killings citing that a month ago, a one year old baby was found murdered with the tongue missing.

The chief added that the deceased was last seen with four other people drinking in a local pub.

“The deceased had sold one cow on Wednesday and we suspect that those who killed him were aware that he had some money as the deceased employed them,” Rotich said.

The chief said that two suspects who are believed to have escorted him from the pub were arrested and are being questioned at Njoro police station.

The two were picked from their homes in Neissuit after police noticed blood stains on their clothes and shoes. He pointed out that the deceased hails from Duka Moja area in Suswa-Narok County.

Police recovered Sh 100 and a 205 ml bottle containing spirit manufactured in Nakuru industry. The body was taken to Nakuru county government mortuary for post-mortem.
