Athi River police boss Kizito Mutoro has called on Mavoko Sub County residents to seek right legal land ownership documents to avoid land conflicts.
Speaking on the phone on Saturday, Mutoro said cases of land conflicts among the residents was increasingly high in the region thereby raising eyebrows.
"Those who own land to seek right legal land ownership documents to avoid the increasing rates of land ownership conflicts," said Mutoro.
Mutoro said majority of the residents do not have title deeds to their land but instead have allotment letters that at some time were never recognized by the law.
According to Mutoro, there were so many residents claiming ownerships of certain same parcels of land in the region since all of them hold allotment letters some of which their origins were questionable.
Mutoro said land conflicts breach peace hence security threat adding that in most cases those wrangling over land had gone futile causing injuries or deaths to their opponents.
He however noted that lack of title deeds by land owners in the area was a big challenge more so those who claim inheritance from their families, some of who are long dead.
The police boss urged the residents to be diplomatic enough whenever they had land ownership problems with their neighbours and follow right legal procedure for amicable solutions instead of going violence.
Mutoro said that the residents should always comply with the law and live in peace for the good of each and every member of the community.
