Athi River police boss Kizito Mutoro has said the sub-county's security committee is committed to sensitising members of the public on their constitutional rights alongside legal processes and procedures. 

Mutoro said they intend to restore the residents' trust and confidence in them.

"We as members of the security committee in Athi River, which is chaired by the area deputy county commissioner, are committed to ensuring that members of the public are sensitised on their constitutional rights alongside legal processes and procedures with the intent of restoring their trust in security forces," said Mutoro.

Speaking in his office on Friday, Mutoro said the committee had put in place all possible strategies to make sensitisation successful so as to realise its intended objectives.

He said mobilisation was being done at location level with assistance from members of community policing initiatives, chiefs and their assistants.

Mutoro said the residents are being educated on various issues concerning their fundamental rights, constitution and roles and procedures of various security agents especially the region's regular and administration police.

He said the project was continuous expressing confidence that by the time it comes to an end, majority of the locals shall have been empowered on the issues accordingly.

Mutoro said youth and women should embrace the initiative actively participate whenever the team visits their locations.
