Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has appointed a technical team to oversee the development of Mlolongo into vibrant business and residential hub.
Mutua said the bid to revamp the town is in line with the county's strategic development plan to transform all urban centers within the county into vibrant business and residential hubs.
He directed the county government's engineers and planners to ensure the town's drainage and stormwater systems are repaired and new street lights installed.
"The roads will be rehabilitated and street lights erected on back streets to enhance security in the 24 - hour economy business urban centre," Mutua said.
Mutua spoke at a meeting attended by the Mlolongo MCA Daniel Mbevi at his office in Machakos town on Thursday.
He appointed Eng. Morris Aluanga as the lead expert in the exercise whose completion schedule has been fixed at 30 days.
The governor announced that another special team will be constituted to design master and public works plans at Syokimau, Githunguri, Joska and Kinanie in Mavoko sub-county.
"In the meantime, we will soon have teams on the ground undertaking repair works due to the massive impact of the ongoing rains," Mutua added.
