Machakos county governor Alfred Mutua Wednesday assented to the 2016/2017 financial year budget passed by the Machakos county Assembly.
In a statement sent to the media, the governor lauded the budget saying it is a "people-centered" budget that will enhance development in the county.
"This budget is a people-centered development projects’ budget. The budget is about changing lives by impacting on the lives of all the people of Machakos County – The Place to Be," he said.
"I am very proud of this inclusive budget that will see the clearing of pending bills, development of water provision, new tarmac roads, improvement of health services and empowering of our youth through training in polytechnics," he added.
According to Mutua, the budget will also see the provision of electricity to more people, creation of jobs will be achieved through the development of Machakos New City and investment programs.
Machakos county is the first county among the 47 counties in Kenya that has assented to its budget.
