Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has been told to ensure women, youths and disabled people are involves in the running of the county business.

County Women Representative Susan Musyoka has said it is a constitutional requirement for the women and youths to be involved in development matters.

She added that the county must work out ways of empowering women, youths and people with disabilities.

“Machakos government must accommodate the views and inputs of women and the youth as it strives to promote economic development,” she said.

The women representative also asked women to seek development funds and start ventures that will improve their lives.

She added that the national government has taken key interest to curb poverty and unemployment especially among the youths.

While supporting government pledge to curb unemployment, Musyoka asked young people to take chance of the opportunities being provided by the state and better their lives, further asking the private sector to chip and help address unemployment that is rising every day.

Meanwhile, the Women representative has called on women leaders to come forward and contribute on matters that touch on governance.

She said that women voices should be part of the major decisions being made by the government, adding that the constitution recognises their role.

“Women leaders should take part in top governance matters and also have their voices heard and felt,” she added.
