Governor Alfred Mutua has asked Machakos residents to take advantage of the ongoing roads development project to expand businesses and create wealth.
Mutua said the expansion of roads and grading of existing feeder roads will be a key catalyst for driving his development agenda and poverty eradication in Machakos in the next three years.
Speaking on Thursday after inspecting the 72-kilometer stretch of Konza-Machakos-Kangundo bypass Road funded by the Word Bank, Mutua said his administration was committed to providing excellent road transport network in order for the people to tap into the facilities and grow businesses.
“Once proper roads are done in every corner of the county, that means there will be faster and more efficient movement of goods and people which will ultimately translate to wealth creation and both formal and informal job opportunities for the people,” Mutua said.
Mutua said the rapidly expanding roads infrastructure growth coupled with trade and agriculture component will place Machakos in an all time high economic stake not only in Kenya but also in East and Central Africa region.
“So far my government has tarmacked over five key roads across Machakos County since 2013, and we are still in the process of doing more. We want to ensure Machakos has the best roads infrastructure in the country so as to attract investors into the county,” he said.
