Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has blamed bureaucracy in the government is the main reason why his county has witnessed a delay in realising meaningful investment since the 2013 investors conference.
While speaking during the launch of his Maendeleo Chap Chap movement on Thursday, Mutua urged Machakos residents to hold the National government accountable for not moving ahead after the conference that was attended by business people across the world including President Uhuru Kenyatta.
He said that during the conference, the county government signed deals amounting to Sh2.8 trillion with the investors but bureaucracy in the central government has played a key role in delaying the projects.
“Many Investors who have been waiting for land in Machakos departed with some heading to Rwanda, Angola, and South Africa while others ventured into the neighboring Uganda, where they were allocated land to build factories, hotels, and malls. Land offices in Kenya are still doing paperwork in an unending and frustrating process,” said the governor.
This comes in the wake of his national tour aimed at popularising his new Maendeleo Chap Chap movement that could as well be his boat to ferry him to re-election come 2017.
