Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has called for a probe into the alleged National Youth Service's scandal.
Mutua said the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) and Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) should investigate and prosecute those involved in the scam.
He said stern action should be taken against anyone found culpable since that's fleecing taxpayers of their money.
"Speedy investigations should be done, Sh10billion is not a small amount to toy with. This is Mwananchi's money," Mutua said.
Mutua spoke in Kisii County on Thursday.
He made these sentiments following the reports that Sh10 billion has been lost in NYS's a fresh scandal.
The governor said corruption has been crippling development in the country and no matter how much the country moves forward, corruption will always drag it backward.
Mutua said the country will never move forward if it continues to tolerate graft.
" We will continue borrowing funds from outside countries if we won't vehemently fight graft in our own country," Mutua said.
He said the money allegedly lost in the NYS is way a lot more than that given to counties to implement development projects.
