Machakos county governor Alfred Mutua has urged Kenyans to be tolerant with each other’s religious faith.
While addressing believers of different faiths and denominations who gathered for an inter-denominational Sunday Service at Kitui High School, the governor called on Kenyans to respect each other's beliefs as this will ensure peace and tranquility in the country.
The governor further urged Kenyans to embrace the country's diversity and shun tribalism.
"A time has come for us Kenyans to be united irrespective of the faith professed, tribe or political affiliation in order to build a great Kenya," Mutua said.
"Let us follow Biblical teachings on tolerance, preach peace and above all love each other for peaceful co-existence," he added.
Also present in the interdenominational meeting were President Uhuru Kenyatta, his Deputy William Ruto, Kitui governor Julius Malombe and his Makueni counterpart Kivutha Kibwana.
