Mutua said he is committed to improving service delivery in health facilities across the county, as access to quality health care is every resident's right.

“I want the level of healthcare to be of international standards, with the patient coming first. I have ordered that no patient should share a bed with another in any hospital. That is the directive because we have enough beds and linen in these health facilities,” said Mutua.

The county boss said the reforms include renovations of health facilities as well as meeting the demands of health workers and improving their living conditions as a way of ensuring they remain motivated.

He further asked patients not to purchase drugs from private hospitals, adding that public hospitals in the county have been equipped with enough drugs.

According to The Star, the task force is expected to present its findings and recommendations after two weeks.

This comes after doctors from Machakos Level 5 Hospital decried poor working conditions and accused Mutua of intimidating and harassing them.
