Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has said that he will not tolerate or allow anti-IEBC protests in the county.
Mutua on Wednesday said that he will not allow demonstrators and protesters in the county.
Governor Mutua stated that the continued anti-IEBC protests by opposition leaders are likely to scare away investors and halt businesses.
“Those planning for the anti-IEBC protests should know that they are not welcomed in Machakos,” said Mutua when he hosted Mau Mau veterans from Machakos on Wednesday.
Mutua said that already tension is gripping some parts of the country as a result of the opposition anti-IEBC protests.
The Machakos Governor said that while Cord has a right to protests it is illegal for them to engage in violence.
Mutua accused opposition leaders of allegedly plotting to use the backdoor to power.
“It is unfortunate that the same people who agitated for the new constitution are the same ones who want to contravene it,” he said.
He condemned the Cord chaos saying that the politicians were using young people to advance their selfish agendas.
On Wednesday cord halted its weekly protest to pave way for dialogue.
The opposition leaders gave Jubilee government five days ultimatum to organize for dialogue over IEBC failure to which they will continue with their protests.
