While addressing the media on the suspension of the officers, Mutua said that uncollected garbage heaps within the town and its suburbs contravened the county government policies.

“It was a great shock to find heaps of garbage in the suburbs of Machakos town, which show laxity of those in charge and that calls for disciplinary measures against them for proper discharge of services to the residents,’” said Mutua.

He further issued directives that the vacant positions be put under their deputies as the four will be out on suspension as a form of discipline action taken against them.

The suspended officers include Patrick Manthi, the Machakos town Sub-county Administrator, Muema Wambua, the County’s Director of Garbage Collection and Disposal Directorate, Paul Mutunga, the Machakos town garbage collection Manager, and Jackson Mutuku, the Supervisor of the garbage area of Machakos CBS-Eastleigh section.

“We are putting their services on hold for not observing the Machakos County policy of keeping our environment clean. We can’t pay for services that are not discharged to the public we should be serving,” added Mutua.

He further issued a warning to those sleeping in their jobs in all departments within the county saying that the value of resident money should be felt.
