Machakos Deputy Governor Benard Kiala has accused the county government of discriminating people with disabilities in allocating jobs.
According to Kiala, his boss Governor Alfred Mutua claims that jobs have been offered to the disabled only on paper but in reality, no employment has been offered in accordance with the law.
Kiala who has fallen out with Mutua, said that the government has ignored the constitutional provision requiring county administrations to offers five per cent of jobs to people living with disabilities.
He was speaking on Saturday during the official opening of the inter-county Sitting Volleyball tournament for people living with the disability at Kwathanze Secondary School.
Kiala further urged residents living with disability to ensure they vote in leaders who push for their empowerment.
Machakos Women Representative Susan Musyoka who was also present echoed Kiala's sentiments.
