Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has defended his state house visit alongside other Ukambani leaders.
Speaking to Inooro, Mutua has brushed off the allegations that the meeting was political.
"We are the people who requested the visit. We needed to discuss issues affecting our region. That's why we were accompanied not only by the elected leaders but also the grassroots leaders representing women, youth amongst other groups," he said.
He further added that the leaders were free to associate with other leaders who are progressive. He also said that the politicians should be focused on policies.
"Leaders should be focused on policies. We are free to be associated with the progressive leadership that will address the issues affecting our region," he added.
Mutua had led a delegation of Ukambani leaders to the statehouse early this week where they discussed matters on their region with President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.
