Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has defended a trip to State House by a section of Ukambani leaders and professionals on Tuesday saying that it was not political as being claimed by some leaders in the region.

Mutua said that the visit was purely on development adding that those questioning the visit are envious of development.

“Some people have already started spreading rumors and propaganda on our Tuesday visit to State House,” he said during an Interview on Musyi FM today morning.

The Machakos Governor said that as leaders they have every right to Visit State House and chant development projects.

Mutua stated that he will continue to work with the national government on development matters. He said that Machakos has benefited from various projects initiated by the national government.

On Tuesday President Uhuru Kenyatta hosted leaders and professionals from Ukambani region at State House. The President discussed development projects and called on the leaders and professionals to champion for development and also help unite Kenyans.

A section of leaders in in the region including county deputy governor Bernard Kiala on Wednesday questioned the visit saying it was politically motivated.
