The media shut down has continued to attract more reactions from Kenyans and Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) CEO Dr Ezekiel Mutua has not been left behind.
In a series of previous Facebook posts, Mutua has called on the media to rethink their strategy following the shut down.
However, Mutua feels his sentiments have been twisted so that his views area seen as a celebration to the ongoing media blackout being witnessed by NTV, KTN News and Citizen Tv.
On a Facebook post on Sunday, Mutua dismissed the assertions directed to him as 'pathetic and pedestrian arguments' citing that God, passion and hard work helped him shape a niche in the same media industry.
"Some journalists are twisting my posts calling on the media to rethink their strategy in the wake of the tv switch off. One Elias Obanyi Makori has even gone to the extent of saying that I am celebrating the trials the industry is going through yet the media made me. What a pathetic, pedestrian argument. The media never made me. God did. Hard work did. Passion did," read a section of the post.
Mutua also revealed how he got sacked at the Nation Media Group (NMG) in 2002. According to Mutua, he got dismissed after writing a letter to His Highness Aga Khan to complain about poor pay and corruption in the media.
"I was sacked at NMG in 2002 (summary dissmissal) after I differed with the NMG management. The bone of contention was a letter I had written to His Highness the Aga Khan and the NMG board over poor pay of journalists and corruption in the media. I was asked to withdraw the letter or be sacked. I chose to be jobless than go against my values," Mutua narrated.
