Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has downplayed claims by former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti and other leaders that he has been fighting wars with other leaders rather than transforming the county.

The governor rubbished claims that his differences with Wiper Leader Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka and Members of the County Assembly have affected his performance in various ways.

According to Mutua, it is only a few leaders with selfish interest who have been attempting to drag him behind as he strives to change the lives of the common Mwananchi.

“I have heard some people say that there have been in fights in my administration, but that is not true. The case has only been of some few individuals who have been trying to pull us behind as we try to move forward,” Mutua said, as quoted by the Star.

Speaking on Thursday during the burial of Mutituni MCA Joseph Kalunde, Wavinya Ndeti claimed that Machakos residents have not reaped big from devolution because of incessant fights among its leaders.

“We have wasted a whole term of five years with nothing but infighting. We are now saying that come August 8, all we want in our county is peace and the only person who can bring that peace is Wavinya Ndeti,” she added.
