Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka is facing rejection in his home turf. His political son Alfred Mutua who said Maendeleo Chap Chap is the third most popular party in the country has dismissed Wiper party.

Responding to a question about the decision to back President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election in an opposition stronghold, Mutua objected the suggestion that Wiper is dominant in his county. He said that this may only be the case in Kitui and Makueni counties. He, however, said that MCC is not a Jubilee or NASA affiliate party.

“There is no NASA or Wiper wave in Machakos. Maybe Wiper has a wave in Makueni and Kitui but not in Machakos. Voters have seen that several things can be done with good governance,” Mutua said.

The governor was also asked to explain the misappropriation of public funds that was unearthed by the Auditor General. He said that he has utilized the county allocation extremely well.

On nepotism, Mutua distanced himself from the relatives that are working in his county government. He said that they were part of the former local government.

“Under my watch, I have not lost even a single cent,” he said.

“I do not understand the nepotism tag. Those working in the county government are employees that I found there. Should I sack them for being my relatives?” Mutua quizzed.
