Yatta MP Francis Mwangangi has laughed off Machakos governor Alfred Mutua's endorsement for presidency in 2022 by a section of Ukambani elders.
Speaking in Yatta on Wednesday, the lawmaker observed that governor Mutua is not yet ripe for presidency, accusing the Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader of failing to deliver on key pledges made to the people of Machakos in the run up to the 2013 general elections.
“Mutua is absolutely far from becoming what he is imagining he can be. To be a kingpin, you have to be tested, tried and accepted by locals and your fellow leaders. But unfortunately, he (Mutua) thinks he can buy political success with money and deceit,” he stated.
On his part, governor Mutua has defended his developmental record, accusing those poking holes in his adminstration as "enemies of development."
“My record speaks for itself and Machakos residents can see what I have delivered in my first term. Those opposed to me are the real enemies of the people because they are only envious of my development agenda for the people,” Mutua noted during a meet-the-people tour in Matungulu.
Mutua fell out with Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka after a frosty political relationship, prompting his decision to form his own outfit.
