The 18 members of the County Assembly in Machakos County want Mutua to send home five county officials.

Lead by Thomas Mweu Kasoa the leader of minority, the MCAs expressed their disapproval of five County leaders who include: Nimrod Mbai County Executive for Decentralised units, Jackson Kala the chief officer in charge of Public service Labour and Information Communication, Jeremiah Lemi of water,Jacinta Masila of county treasury collection and Urbanus Musyoka of energy and environment sector.

The five are accused of being masterminds of dragging behind the county’s development.

Speaking in Machakos town during a press release, assembly’s deputy speaker Nathaniel Ng’ang’a supported the move.

“Do you know the bursary funds were released to the county government yet in many constituencies the funds has not yet been received? In another incident the water and irrigation sector should have by now distributed the water tanks to the different schools in the county. On the contrary the head teachers have been called to look for their own means and transport the tanks to their schools which is entirely the county government’s work,” said Ng’ang’a.

Kasoa further added that if Mutua hesitated to fire the five officials from their position within the given duration, then they would table the same in the County Assembly for the right procedures to remove the five out of office.

This heated notice comes after reports from the national treasury indicated that as at January 21, 2015, Machakos County had collected from the local revenue sources Sh 403 million against Makueni who had collected Sh 1.4 billion and Kitui at Sh 1.9 Billion, stirring the disagreements about the least revenue collection in the rest of the counties.
