The former chief officer in the Machakos County Water Department, Lemi Muia on Wednesday said that disagreements between him and Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua started way back.
The former chief officer said that the disagrements finally led him to lose his position in the county government of Machakos.
Lemi spoke about this during a meeting in Matuu.
Lemi recently resigned from his job as Machakos County government officer due to being subjected to suspension from duty by Governor Mutua, among other county officers, alleged of corruption and misuse of public resources.
‘‘Mutua hated me in 2013. I was the Water PS of Machakos then and I advised him to first focus on making use of the already drilled boreholes instead of drilling new ones and promising the people of Machakos over ambitious plans of piping water to every home," explained Lemi.
He pointed out that Mutua takes nobody's advice and when they disagreed, he had promised to eliminate him so that he would not be involved in any Machakos water projects.
"Mutua told me that I only know African technology and he knows the Dubai one which he would apply in piping water to every home. He, therefore, told me I should back off and just watch as he did so, whether I liked it or not," continued Lemi.
The former water officer urged the people to open their eyes so as to choose a better leader who can work with other leaders, come 2017 general elections.
Lemi led his crowd in singing anti- chapchap slogans, which is an initiative which launched by the governor months ago.
He added that Mutua had been harassing leaders, especially those from Masinga and Yatta, including his deputy, Bernard Kiala, and urged the people to prove to Mutua that those regions have leaders too, come 2017 elections.
