Governor Alfred Mutua has hit out at a section of Kamba politicians allied to the opposition who are calling on residents to boycott the Thursday repeat presidential election.

Mutua in a briefing with journalists on Monday said that residents are ready to vote and their right cannot be taken away.

The governor also said that NASA protests are not welcomed in Ukambani.

He said that Ukambani people are peace loving and will not be swayed by NASA’s silly protests whose agenda is to allegedly cause violence.

“I want to urge Machakos and the larger Ukambani residents to participate in the Thursday election because it is their constitutional right,” he said on Monday.

Mutua assured residents that their security will be guaranteed during the repeat election.

Last week Kitui governor Charity Ngilu asked Ukambani residents to boycott the Thursday repeat poll.

Ngilu claimed that IEBC systems are flawed and that the commission cannot guarantee credible repeat presidential election.
