Speaking to residents and leaders in Ikutha ward, Kitui, Mutua acknowledged the fact that life in the slums areas is pathetic. “I have shared my personal story of growing up in a poor city slum. This story is no different from that of many children growing up in rural Kenya. I want to transform the county,” he said, as quoted by The Star.

During his tour in this part of the nation, he assured the aspirants who will be seeking different posts with Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement of financial support in the next general elections.

The outspoken governor also expressed his concern over the lack of water, poor infrastructure and poor health systems despite the promulgation of the new constitution.

Mutua pointed out that time has come when we need to do things differently in order to realize vision 2030.

“We need to change the way we do things. We must pursue goals that will increase food production for domestic us, and improve the quality of education,” he said.

The former Wiper Party member also thanked the residents for the support they have offered him since he formed the new political outfit a few months ago.

“The support I am receiving from aspirants is overwhelming,” he said.
