Machakos County Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has invited all stakeholders to the public consultative forums on the Finance Bill for the financial year 2017/2018 to deliberate on the issue.

Mutua who had a consultative meeting with all members of Machakos County Assembly said that prosperity of the County is hinged on their total commitment to work together and get things done.

"The Local Government Finance Act includes a provision for an extra levy payable on top of standard business rates, which would be spent on local projects within a particular local authority area," said Mutua.

Mutua further claimed that any money spent by the County would be after consultation by councils with local businesses.

"Small firms have little enthusiasm for it and many are doubtful the redistribution of monies will actually benefit them," added Mutua.

The forum is set to run for five days after which the Governor will hold a press conference to give the outcome of the forum.
