Addressing journalists outside the Miwani governor’s offices, on Friday, Mwanzia said that the governor spent Sh33 million on purchasing ministers vehicles that were cheaper and used less fuel.

Mutinda further said that the county had been ranked top, in managing county allocated funds, among all the 47 counties.

This is according to the recent research by World Bank through National Democratic Institution.

“The reason why the governor is being investigated is because he purchased cheaper vehicles for the county ministers so as to use the remaining money to serve citizens,” said Mutinda.

Dr. Mutua has previously said that he spent Sh33 million in purchasing vehicles while other counties used more than Sh100 million for the same.

Speaking on Friday in his office after the president’s speech, state of the nation, where he (president) directed government officials involved in corruption to step a side for investigation, Mutua said that he has not and he will never engage in corruption.

“County government funds is for projects aimed at improving residents living standards,” said Mutua.
