Speaking during the celebrations on Wednesday in Kenyatta Stadium, Kiala stated that only 15 Machakos residents attended the event.

"Today we are surprised why such an important celebration is attended by 15 people who have all been paid," said Kiala.

The deputy governor further said the low turnout in public celebrations is as a result of a political versus residents disconnect.

"The reason for such a show is because there is a serious disconnect between the political leadership and the Machakos residents," he added.

Kiala faulted Dr Alfred Mutua for funding a series of Campaign meetings but failing to support important public celebrations.

"In the past one month governor Mutua has been assembling people from all Sub-Counties and are treated to good meals and like in the youth convention each person pocketed 3,000 shillings after the convention.

Therefore, he should consider putting enough budget in support of Public Celebrations," said Kiala.

On the other hand, Dr Alfred Mutua has announced his contentment and readiness to host 2016 Mashujaa day celebrations.

"We are very happy as president has shown respect to Ukambani and Machakos people to appoint such a great celebration to our county," said Mutua.
