Ndeti said the governor was using PR through media to cheat the public that projects implemented by the national government had been initiated by Machakos government.

She said Mutua was trying to hang on the national government through the Presidency to survive.

Ndeti urged the President to show the public projects which had been implemented by his government next time he tours the county to avoid being cheated by the governor.

Ndeti said the governor was taking advantage of the residents’ confusion after the President commissioned several projects which were also claimed by the governor to had been executed by the county government.

She said the county government was marred with corruption claiming the water and road projects commissioned by Uhuru Kenyatta during his recent visit to Machakos County belong to the national government.

Ndeti’s sentiments were echoed by the suspended county’s water executive Lemi Muia who said the governor had built an empire to fleece residents of their resources.

“Mutua does not consult anybody, he is a leader in quotes,” said Muia.

Muia said there was no water mapping conducted by the county government but a demographic survey to map out electorates and have their details to rig the 2017 elections.

The duo spoke during a meet the people tour in Kathiani, Machakos County on Monday.

Machakos County Government press secretary Mutinda Mwanzia dismissed the claims terming them usual politics.

Mwanzia said all the ongoing water projects in the county were part of comprehensive water programme funded by the county government.

He said the Kavundini – Masinga Road was constructed by the Machakos government arguing they were grading feeder roads in all the sub counties.

Mwanzia said only Tala – Oldonyo Sabuk – Thika Road recently commissioned by the President was constructed by the national government.
