Speaking after launching a 15KM road costing Sh150m, Mutua said that he does not want to be the Lord of Poverty.

“Unlike some leaders, I do not want to be the Lord of poor and struggling people. I want to be the humble leader of people who are living decent and dignified lives,” said Mutua, as quoted by Capital FM.

The outspoken governor affirmed that his political opponents will not intimidate him as he seeks to transform the county into a small corner of paradise.

“When they hear that I am doing polítics of development, they don’t sleep as they plot on how to bring me down. They will fail,” Mutua said.

The incumbent governor said that he is not ready to waste his time on petty politics instead of developing his county.

“My politics are those of development and which have endeared me to many of my supporters,” he added.

A member of the Machakos county assembly Winstone Kanui praised the governor for doing enough to solve the problems facing his people while referring the newly tarmacked road.

“The Governor is assured of our votes due to his track record. We will re-elect him again,” said Kanui.
