The Maendeleo Chap Chap movement was nationally launched yesterday evening amid pomp and colour.
Delegates from across the country gathered at Bomas of Kenya grounds where the launch took place. The event was aired live in most of the local TV stations and radio stations.
Mutua urged Kenyans to embrace Maendeleo Chap Chap as it is the solution to the problems they are facing right now such as poverty and tribalism,
"Today I want to take you on a journey. A journey that transforms disenchantment to hope. A journey that replaces fear with happiness, a journey that fights poverty with prosperity. A journey that says it is possible for this beautiful country that we love so much to rise to greater heights and for the lives of each and everyone of its children to improve drastically," Mutua called on Kenyans to emulate small children that play with each other not caring about the tribe.
When they fall sick they are taken to the hospital without caring which tribes the doctor or nurse comes from," tribalism is not a way of life but has been institutionalized by our political class to become a reference for our interactions.
Maendeleo Chap Chap is ushering in a new consciousness that says, it does not matter where you were born or what your parents back ground is - you are first and foremost a Kenyan."
Politicians were not invited at the launch because according to Mutua the movement is people centred and not politicians. Mutua passionately talked of four problems that he thinks hurts Kenyans the most. They include lethargy, bureaucracy, politics of poverty and corruption.
He proposed Maendeleo Chap Chap as the solution to these problems. He further outlined developments achieved so far under Maendeleo Chap Chap such as 253 boreholes, 209 dams among others.
Two beneficiaries of the movement with clean water shared their experience from Kyevaluki and the jerricans they used to carry water were kicked by the governor.
His critics took to social media to question the source of the funds used to launch the movement and accused him of high level public relations.
