The Machakos gubernatorial race is turning out to be a tight race as it was expected with Mutua leading Wavinya by a slim margin.
By 3 am on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 the Maendeleo Chap Chap boss had 84,031 votes against Wiper party candidate Wavinya Ndeti’s 69,587.
Meanwhile, the two engaged in a fierce campaign that is being replicated in the results streaming in.
MCC announced its support for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s reelection. On the other side, Wavinya Ndeti ditched Chama Cha Uzalendso (CCU) for Wiper Democratic Movement (WDM), which has its party leader Kalonzo Musyoka as NASA’s deputy presidential candidate.
The last-minute campaigns between the two resorted to mudslinging games. There were claims by Mutua that Wavinya was being trailed for being involved in narcotic deals. Wiper’s Wavinya Ndeti denied the allegations buy Mutua and declared that was the last kick of a dying horse.
