Machakos county governor Alfred Mutua has asserted his administration's commitment to providing clean and safe drinking water.
Speaking on Thursday at Kimutwa and Kola wards where he presided over the inauguration of borehole water collection points initiated by the Machakos county government, the governor maintained that he is on course in ensuring that every household in the county gets access to clean water.
"Provision of water to residents of Machakos is one of my key agendas," he said.
"We are on a firm road to deliver on that promise with a target to dig 1000 boreholes. We want to make sure that each resident is able to access clean water so that people will stop ferrying dirty water from rivers or dams using jerry cans and donkeys," he added.
Machakos county government also looks to rehabilitate 76 dams in the county as part of the extensive programme to provide water to every household.
