Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua dances to one of his favorite songs after he addressed the public during a political rally at Makadara shopping centre in Athi River, Machakos County on Sunday.
Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua made a maiden entry into Mavoko Sub County, NASA’s perceived stronghold during his meet the people tour on Sunday.
In a well orchestrated plan, Mutua attended prayers at AIC Athi River for five hours before touring Njuguini, KMC and Slota estates in Athi River township ward where he requested the locals to re – elect him before holding a major rally in Makadara shopping centre.
Residents cheered at the governor shouting ‘Maendeleo Chap Chap’ slogans as his fleet of vehicles snailed into the estates and eventually Athi River town.
This is one of the wards in the county where Mutua had for long time faced resistance seeing some of his political rallies being disrupted by people he believed were his opponents supporters.
Mutua walked on streets greeting the locals before getting to the shopping centre where he articulated his manifesto and requested for votes, thousands of electorates who attended the rally gave him a nod chanting ‘Mutua Tano Tena’.
“I have offered myself to serve my people with a focus of moving Machakos from third world to first World County, that is why I have always remained the number one governor among the 47 across the coutry in development,” said Mutua.
Mutua said the residents should give him five more years chance as their governor to complete the projects which his government had started stating that Rome was not built in a day.
“There is nobody who understands the meaning of problems more than I do, I grew up in abject poverty in Kibera slums. I could have not been what I am today if it were not for God’s favor that brought along sponsors who offered me scholarship to study abroad,” said Mutua.
He said it is the education he had abroad which opened his eyes making him hatch the Maendeleo Chap Chap ideology.
“Siasa za fitina na kumalizana ndio zimetuletea umaskini Kenya na haswa hapa Ukambani, hakuna Gavana mwingine humu nchini ametusiwa na hata kupigwa mawe kama mimi. Wale maadui wa maendeleo waliniogopa wakaanza kuniita mtu wa sinema,” said Mutua.
Mutua said his speedy development projects were not theatrics but practicable.
