Governor Alfred Mutua and Senator Johnstone Muthama both skipped the first ever Wiper party summit convened on Wednesday by party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

The summit meeting, which was held at a Nairobi hotel, brought together governors, their deputies and party leadership in accordance to the party’s constitution.

But the two political protagonists sent apologies for their inability to attend the function, which discussed among other issues coalition affairs and 2017 general elections. 

Dr Mutua is said to have sent a letter excusing himself from the event, citing other official commitments while Muthama was engaged in the ongoing IEBC select committee meetings. 

A well-placed source who attended the meeting told this writer that the meeting resolved to activate resource mobilization to enable the party’s presidential candidate to mount a formidable campaign in next year’s polls.
