"I firmly remain committed to addressing the plight of our people and ensure that this region is attractive to both local and foreign investors," he said.

"My commitment is to ensure that Machakos indeed remains the place to be," he added.

Speaking Tuesday afternoon after hosting about 500 business people with keen interest in the matatu and boda-boda industry, Mutua shared with the stakeholders what his government has done and continues to do to enhance economic growth.

"The county government (Machakos) has tarmacked several roads including the now famous Makutano, Meals Kithiani road, in order to bolster the transport sectors growth," Mutua highlighted.

"We have put in place CCTV monitoring equipment in strategic places to ensure that transporters operate without fear of attacks by criminals or that their businesses are vandalised by goons," he added.

The stakeholder consultative engagement attracted business people drawn from Machakos, Kitui and Makueni counties.
