Machakos governor Dr Alfred Mutua has expressed confidence that he will beat Wiper Candidate also former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti in the forthcoming general polls.

The Maendeleo Chap Chap Movement leader has said that his has an exemplary performance record, adding that he is sure about re-election when that time comes.

The county boss, who was speaking to the Nation, promised Ndeti a run for her money during the upcoming general polls, saying it will not be a walk in the park.

“My development record speaks for itself and I am confident that Machakos residents will elect me,” he said.

The governor also said that tribal politics no longer has a place in the modern society while urging his opponents to preach peace as we head to the polls.

“Gone are the days when we could allow tribal politics. Those accusing me of betraying the Kamba community are people who want to perpetrate politics of poverty,” he added.

Earlier on, his Deputy Bernard Kiala had faulted him for being a stumbling block when it comes to devolution since he took over power after the last general polls.

“For four years, the governor has not been able to devolve powers to constituencies and villages because until today, the county does not have village managers neither does it have ward administrators,” Kiala said.
