The Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union has accused Machakos governor Alfred Mutua over what the union has termed as 'hostility towards medical practitioners.'
In a letter dated July 15, 2016 and addressed to governor Mutua, the union said it had noted with dismay over continued contempt and distasteful attitude towards doctors working at various health facilities in Machakos county by the governor.
"We have counted numerous media outbursts from you towards hard-working, well-meaning, highly qualified and diligent doctors serving in extremely difficult and strenuous for a pittance. To this extent, KMPDU and the community of Kenyan doctors now wonder, and strongly so, whether the disappearance and death of some specific doctors from Machakos county could be a consequence of your hatred and confrontations," the letter read in part.
The union's concerns comes days after governor Mutua suspended senior medical officers at Kathiani Level Four Hospital over alleged gross incompetence.
