Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has directed all senior county staff to be working six days a week (Monday to Saturday) starting from next week.
In a statement posted on his official facebook page on Tuesday, Mutua said that all senior officers including county executives, chief officers, directors and their deputies will be required to work six days a week.
Other officers to work six days a week according to Mutua are head of departments and their deputies.
Mutua says that the move is meant to accelerate service delivery for Machakos locals.
He said that his government under the Maendeleo Chap Chap paradigm is committed to improve the lives of locals.
Governor Mutua also said county executive members will be required to be visiting and supervising development projects in the field three days a week.
He added that head of departments will be required to hold regular meetings with junior staffs to take stock of development and service delivery.
At the same time Mutua said that all senior officials will soon start signing performance contracts.
According to Mutua performance contracting will measure the input of senior officials in regards to service delivery.
The Machakos governor said his government is keen to promote service delivery and adders issues facing locals.
