Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua has directed all the striking nurses to report to work with immediate effect or else he will fire them. The county boss, who was elected on Maendeleo Chap Chap ticket, said that his government is no longer ready to tolerate nurses who will not resume work.

He stated that the residents have been suffering while nurses are not ready to heed the call of the government.

The county government has already advertised jobs for the interests Kenyans ahead of the rerun.

'"Those who report to work will not be sacked. Those who don't will get termination letters," Mutua said, as quoted by The Star. The county boss also said that the strike was declared illegal, adding that the nurses will have no reason to lament if they are fired from  their posts  soon

"The court has declared the strike illegal.  We have pleaded with our nurses to return to work as issues are sorted.  We have written letters to all nurses asking them to get back to work but they have refused," Mutua said.

The nurses want the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) honored.
