Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua has promised to concede defeat if he is floored by Wavinya Ndeti.
The incumbent said that elections are not the end of life and therefore everyone must be ready to honor the results. He is defending his seat on a Maendeleo Chap Chap ticket while his close competitor Wavinya Ndeti has Kalonzo Musyoka’s Wiper party ticket.
Speaking to journalists at his office, Monday, Mutua said he is unlikely to lose but if the worst happens, he will respect the outcome.
"The question of losing does not arise but I am a democrat. You have to accept the will of the people. What people need is a free and fair election," Mutua said.
The county boss faulted those preaching the gospel of a must win for themselves. He criticized them for demanding a win for Kenya to be peaceful.
Mutua said it was wrong for some people to insist they must win in order for the country to be peaceful. The MCC party leader also urged his supporters to avoid bribes and exercise their democratic right.
"I urge my supporters to exercise their democratic right and vote for the candidate who will transform their lives," he said as quoted by the Star.
