Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has maintained that he has what it takes to become the commander in chief of the Kenyan armed forces in 2022.

According to The Star, the Maendeleo Chap Chap Leader said that he will pull a shocker when that time comes. He was speaking during the 13th annual primary school heads meet in Mombasa on Wednesday.

"I'm planning to shock Kenya in the next few years," he said, as quoted by the local daily.

The county boss also said that he is ready to show the Kenyan voters that he is capable of leading this nation to prosperity if accorded a chance to rise to power.

"I will show you what I'm capable of doing,” he added.

The governor is expected to battle for political supremacy with Former Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka who has also declared his interest in the nation’s top seat.

The outspoken governor has said time and again that he will floor his competitors hands down during the presidential race in 2022. He will be banking on the support of the Kamba Nation and other regions to ascend to power during the election.

Several leaders from both divides have expressed interest in the Presidency including Ford Kenya's Moses Wetang'ula, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi, Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho and former Meru Governor Peter Munya.
