The residents have lamented that the county government has shown that it does not care about them yet they have been paying taxes like other citizens.
They claim that they are exposed to different challenges because of the poor living conditions, but the governor has not done much to improve their lives since he took over power following the last general elections.
"There is too much garbage and raw sewerage flowing everywhere. We are at a very high risk of cholera infections," a resident told the Star.
The residents also allege that garbage was collected in the area several months ago. Speaking at a chief's baraza during a voter education drive by IEBC, the residents blamed Mutua and county health officials for not take into account their needs.
Mavoko assistant chief Cosmas Musyoki confirmed that cholera outbreak has been reported in the area. "A family of three was admitted to a hospital in Athi River town and diagnosed with the disease," the chief said.
Mavoko public health officer Aaron Mawea said that the county government was putting in place measures to ensure that residents are safe.
